You know, the Japanese are masters in making simple things epic and over the top. Take this 60 second ad for example. It’s an ad for…. the keirin. Ok, people don’t make ads for cycling events unlike say basketball, american football, or soccer. So, I give it to the Japanese for making a very well done, albeit a little epic for its own good keirin ad. If you take note in the last scene, the cyclist throws some salt over his bike just like how a sumo wrestler throws salt on the ring before a match. This practice is meant to ‘purify’ or ‘lustrate’ the bike. And the last line reads “Humans are not weak.. Keirin” whatever that’s supposed to imply relates to the Japanese love for deep or maybe just convoluted ideas.
